Toyota Motorsport GmbH (TMG) released some more details today on its plans to smash the Nüburgring lap record for electric vehicles (EVs). The record is currently held by Peugeot's EX1 with a time of 9 min 1.338 secs.
Toyota's contender is a specially prepared EV based on a trackday favourite from Radical Sportscars. Its 100% electric powertrain can push the car up to some 260 km/h with a 0-100 km/h time of just 3.9 seconds.
The figures are pretty impressive, especially that they can easily compete with some of the world's fastest cars using conventional powertrains. What's even more impressive is that they want to beat the record by "more than just a few seconds," according to TMG General Manager, Ludwig Zeller.
The attempt takes place on August 29, conditions depending. Best of luck to the boys in Cologne!
