Schumi still geat, but...

Michael Schumacher showed his true form last Saturday with an awesome pole lap during Qualifying. Sadly, because of Mr Ecclestone, all videos of the lap on YouTube has been blocked or taken off-line. I'm sure if you tune in to Sky F1 channel (in the UK) you'll probably still be able to catch it. The race ended pretty badly with a fuel pump issue for Schumi after posting some blistering lap time to eat into Massa's 6th place lead. What really worried me is this picture after Quali... I'm just really not so sure about the angle, and hand/arm position of our German friend...

Girls from the Nürburgring

So, it's been a week since the 24-hour race at The Green Hell, but it's never too late to look back at fond memories of the race. Here's a pic gallery of the grid girls from the race. Enjoy!

Falken Drifting Team - awesome video

A very good morning from Nürburgring! As I write, the British GT guys are going all out on track, flying past the pit straight and paddocks. Enjoy this video I took midway through dinner. It's the Falken Drifting Team putting on an awesome performance for the crowds here.

Videos from Nürburgring grid

Just have a look at these vids from the grid. When the cars shoot off the line, it's purely awesome!

British GT grid walk

Martin Brundle has his F1 grid walk - one of my favourite moments every race. Now, I present my very own British GT grid walk. Hot from the grid, these are the latest pictures of the awesome machines on display at the Nürburgring. While I write this post, the cars are shooting past making some really, really thunderous roars. Music to my ears!

Back to The Ring

It's been running for 40 years. One of the world's longest motor races is back this weekend at the Nürburgring. I arrived here yesterday after hearing of the atrocious weather conditions on Wednesday. It wasn't just wet and cold then, sleet and snow was falling copiously according to all accounts. To be honest, I was quite confused as to what to wear, and I didn't really fancy being too wet. It was all pretty good yesterday though. It was just pretty chilly but mostly dry and not entirely unpleasant.

Williams F1 ends day with garage fire

It was supposed to be a wonderful, fairytale like day for Williams F1. The team ended today's Spanish Grand Prix with Pastor Maldonado taking his maiden win, after his first-ever pole position and his team's first win since 2004. Very recently, Sir Frank - the team stalwart - celebrated his 70th birthday. It all turned out brilliantly for the English team, until about 30 minutes ago. News of a garage fire lit up Twitter this evening. Have a look at the team statement, in which at least three team members are still hospitalised.

Hamilton penalty, loses pole!

Interesting news from the Spanish Grand Prix paddock. After a rather "normal" qualifying session earlier in the day, Lewis Hamilton has now been penalised by the stewards and loses pole position.

General Admiral Aladeen on SNL

I really think The Dictator is going to be Sacha Baron Cohen's best work. Really funny stuff and the promotional activities are hilarious! In his Saturday Night Live appearance, General Aladeen whisks out a fellow movie maker - Martin Scorsese no less - to plug his movie, after showing the literal two thumbs up of Roger Ebert...

The Avengers smashes $200 million box office record

As expected, early figures are in and after the opening US domestic weekend, The Avengers (2012) has taken in $200 million according to the BBC. This now leaves the likes of the final Harry Potter movie with $169 million, the Dark Knight $158 million and Spider-Mad 3 with $151 million behind. Worldwide box office take after about a week and a half currently sits at $ 641 million. However, the epic movie did fail to take US domestic opening day record with only $91 million from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2.

Supermoon

No, it's not some new superhero. If you been reading news on the net, you'd have seen it. It happened yesterday when the Moon got closer to the Earth making it appear bigger and brighter than normal. I looked for it yesterday, after reading about it for weeks. Guess what? Not a thing. Why? Because the city I'm in is perpetually covered with a thick grey mass that sometimes chucks down with rain, sometimes hail and sometimes snow and sleet. Any kind of meteorological or astronomical event is totally wasted here. Sigh...

Cartman's "I Hate You Guys" - South Park

Wow... This one brings back some memories. This Cartman classic from Season 3 was first aired in 1999. That's 13 years folks. Hmm... Shouldn't have brought up the age related thing. Anyways, Enjoy.

Wired.com analyses The Hulk 3.0

Just read this article on Wired.com on why The Hulk, the third recent cinematic incarnation, worked so well with Mark Ruffalo playing the part. I must say, after having watched The Avengers (2012), I totally agree. He doesn't say much, but the character is probably the most memorable for me because it was unpredictable (as he should be) and unexpectedly hilarious. If they bring out another Hulk movie with Ruffalo, I'd go watch it without a second thought. Bring on 2015!
Audiences love it. Mark Ruffalo’s motion-capture version of the Hulk has played so strongly to international crowds ahead of The Avengers‘ Friday opening in the United States that Marvel Entertainment is already talking about plans to create yet another standalone Hulk movie in 2015.

Murdoch unfit to do anything

This is today's "Breaking News" on BBC News:
Rupert Murdoch "is not a fit person to exercise the stewardship of a major international company"
Is this news to anyone? I know it's following an official report by a bunch of UK MPs (all of whom generally have a rather nasty reputation these days). I thought everyone realised Rupert was a bit of a nutter a long, long time ago.
